Wade Mahoney Jr.
Wade Mahoney Jr., age 86, of Uniontown, Pa., died Saturday, July 29, 2006, in his home. He was born on March 18, 1920, in Uniontown, Pa., to Wade H. Mahoney Sr. and Bessie Humbert Mahoney.
Wade graduated from the now former South Union High School with the Class of 1938.
On August 26, 1945, he married Sara Genevieve Crawford of Uniontown, Pa.
He worked as a delivery driver for People’s and also Metzler’s Furniture Store in Uniontown, as a grower and associate for Mahoney’s Greenhouses in Uniontown and retired as a carpenter working for Tri-State Builders in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Known as “Tommy” to his family and friends, Wade’s favorite hobby was fishing.
In retirement, Wade was an avid reader who liked to share information and also an accomplished gardener whose flowers and produce were enjoyed by many family members, friends and neighbors.
He was a member of the Brethren Church and later the Central Christian Church in Uniontown.
His parents, his wife, Sara “Sally” Genevieve Crawford Mahoney, brothers, Walter, William and Woodrow, and sisters, Hallie Livingston, Elinor, Ethel and Klara Mahoney, preceded him in death.
Wade is survived by two daughters: Yvonne Lee Becka and her husband, Paul, of Coal Center and Bentleyville, Pa., and Diane Elaine Wallace and her husband, William, of Uniontown; three grandchildren: Jeffrey Paul Becka and his wife, Elizabeth, of Charleroi, Pa., Ryan Wade Becka of Coal Center and Cassandra Bess Wallace of Uniontown; a brother, Harry Mahoney and his wife, Virginia, of New London, Ohio; a sister, Jacqueline Grove and her husband, Reid, of Uniontown; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and caring friends and neighbors.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m.
Viewing will continue on Wednesday, August 2, 2006, from 10 until 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of his Life at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Art Mace officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown.
