John Goodish Jr.
John Goodish Jr., 91 of Carmichaels, Pa., formerly of Greensboro, Pa., died in his home on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. He was born on May 14, 1914 in Gates, a son of John and Mary Krepak Goodish.
Mr. Goodish was a graduate of the German Township Schools and attended classes at the University of Pittsburgh. For 43 years he was employed with United States Steel Corporation. Mr. Goodish was business manager for the Southeastern Greene School District for 13 years and Secretary of the School Board for 4 1/2 years.
John was a member of the Carmichaels Grange, Lions Club of Greensboro and Carmichaels senior citizens for many years. He enjoyed working in the yard, tinkering with the stock market and spending time with his family.
He was a member of Saint Hugh’s Roman Catholic Church in Carmichaels.
On July 10, 1946, he married Louis Skoda Goodish who survives. Also surviving are a son, John Goodish (Kitty), of Venetia; a daughter, Carolyn Hartley (Brice) of Carmichaels; five grandchildren: Jonathan Goodish (Pam) of Washington, Pa., Emily Cook (Chris) of Bethel Park, Amanda Goodish of Washington, D.C., Renee Hartley of Atlanta and Dana Boyer (Patrick) of Reston, Virginia.
Deceased are two brothers, Frank and Andrew Goodish and three sisters, Emma Gera, Helen Kukan, and Marie Jobes.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 Thursday, March 9, 2006 and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the LESAKO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Dowlin Street, Carmichaels, Pa., where services will be held on March 11, 2006. A prayer Service at the Funeral Home will be held at 11:30 a.m., followed by Mass at noon, with Rev. John Bauer at Saint Hugh Church, Carmichaels, Pa. Burial in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. Grange Memorial service at 7 p.m., Friday at the Funeral Home.
