Teen seriously injured in North Union Accident

By The 2 min read

A 17-year-old Dunbar boy was seriously injured Tuesday morning when he was pushed from a vehicle on Coolspring-Jumonville Road in North Union Township and subsequently struck by an oncoming car, according to his family. Patrick McKeel had just left J.C.’s Pool Hall on Coolspring with seven other people when he was pushed from the crowded car, his family said Wednesday.

His cousin, Samantha Miller of Markleysburg said McKeel was taken to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with major injuries from the crash after the driver that struck him called 911.

Miller said the unidentified group in the car that McKeel was pushed from fled the scene.

UPMC officials would not divulge any information regarding McKeel’s condition because he is a juvenile, but McKeel’s family said he was in serous condition after suffering extensive injuries in the collision.

State police verified the information from McKeel’s family; however, they did not identify McKeel in their report because he is a juvenile, as if there policy.

Police said Brenda Landham, 40, of Hopwood was driving the vehicle that struck McKeel.

According to Fayette County 911, the accident occurred at 12:08 a.m. Tuesday near the Stroehmann Pennsylvania Dutch Bakers depot, a subsidiary of George Weston Bakeries Inc.

In addition to the state police, volunteer firefighters from North Union Township and Hopwood as well as emergency personnel from Uniontown Fireman’s Ambulance responded to the collision.
