Barbara Ellen Whaley Ellenzweig, R.N.

Barbara Ellen (Whaley) Ellenzweig, R.N., age 68, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, in Chandler Hospital, Chandler, Arizona. She was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, on June 9, 1937, the daughter of James Whaley and Abigail Honse Whaley.

She graduated from Saint John The Evangelist Roman Catholic High School in Uniontown then furthered her education and became a Registered Nurse.

Barbara worked at the Uniontown Hospital where she met her husband, Dr. Morris S. Ellenzweig. They married in 1974.

In 1986, she and her family moved to Chandler, Arizona, where she found her second home.

Barbara was a very talented and accomplished artist who loved to paint, sketch, make dolls, refinish and decorate furniture, crochet and anything else creative.

She had a flair for fashion and was much more of a trendsetter versus a follower.

She had a very, very deep love of family. They were the center of her life.

Barbara had a tremendous sense of humor, a strong sense of spirituality, and was such a unique and caring person. She loved pets and always welcomed any stray animals into her home.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents and by her husband, Dr. Morris S. Ellenzweig (May 11, 2001).

She is survived by her son, David McDevitt of Tempe, Arizona; daughter, Megan McDevitt and her life partner, Lisa Tennant, of Royal Oak, Michigan; daughter, Amy McDevitt of Chandler, Arizona; daughter and son-in-law, Liza (McDevitt) Deever and Nelson Deever of Lynchburg, Virginia; step-daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Ellenzweig) Grohmann and Ken Grohmann and their two daughters, Katie and Jenny, of Toronto, Canada; sister, Abigail Whaley Ruane of Hopwood, Pennsylvania; brother, Justin Whaley of Clarksburg, West Virginia; brother, Jimmy Honse of Burnt Hill, New York; her best friend, Genny Ciganek of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and countless other lifelong friends.

A morning Graveside Service was held on Monday, August 29, 2005, in the Paradise Memorial Gardens located in Scottsdale, Arizona..

Arrangements were under the direction of the PARADISE MEMORIAL GARDENS, 9300 East Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale, AZ 85260 (480-860-2300).
