Harry C. Roupe
Harry C. Roupe, age 79, of Canonsburg, Pa., died Sunday, April 30, 2006, in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born on November 25, 1926, in Uniontown, Pa., one of ten children to George A. Roupe and Merle Matlick Roupe.
Mr. Roupe had worked as a supervisor in the Test Department of Cooper Industries, Inc., retiring in 1989 after 38 years of service.
He served with the United States Army in World War II.
He was a lifetime Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Canonsburg, Pa., where he had served as an Adult Sunday School Teacher and for many years the Church Treasurer.
As a helpful friend and neighbor, Harry enjoyed being a handyman and could fix just about anything.
He also loved to be in his garden, growing crops that he shared with his family and friends.
Marian Miller and Harry were married on May 18, 1952. He was much beloved by his wife of 54 years and his sons and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Thelma Proctor and Norma Lyons.
Harry is survived by his wife; three sons, Richard A. Roupe (Pamela) of Bradford, Pa., David C. Roupe (Patricia) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Edward H. Roupe (Susanne) of Fletcher, Vermont; six grandchildren, Megan and Kathryn Roupe of Bradford, Pa., Josiah Roupe of Raleigh, North Carolina and Abagail, Jasmine and Olivia Roupe of Fletcher, Vermont; six sisters, Virginia Gray of Houston, Pa., Mabel Rafalko of Lorain, Ohio, Eleanor Grieb of Elliott City, Maryland, Gladys Collins of Baltimore, Maryland, Delores Zentkovich of Stewartstown, Pa, and Betty Hogan of Forest, Virginia; and one brother Donald Roupe of Douglasville, Pa.
Friends will be received in the McILVAINE-SPEAKMAN FUNERAL HOME LTD., 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, with Dr. David Wriglesworth officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, 215 North Central Avenue, Canonsburg, Pa.
