Ready for Memorial Day
Karen Voithofer of Carmichaels places the finishing touches on a giant flag she designed on a corn crib at the Lechner Farm, Church Street Extension, Smithfield, as her son Lt. Col. Matthew J. Voithofer IV looks on. Karen and her husband, Matthew J. Voithofer III, own the crib and barn. Her son is assigned to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He and his wife, Maj. Sondra Voithofer, visited the farm with their three children recently. It took several days for Karen to complete the project.
