Bruce G. Robinson
Bruce G. Robinson, 94, of Smithfield, Pa., entered into his heavenly home on Monday, April, 3, 2006. Born April 20, 1911, on the family farm in Springhill Township, Fayette County, Pa., he was a son of the late Robert Ross and Carrie Crow Robinson.
A 1929 honors graduate of Point Marion High School, he also graduated from West Virginia University in 1933 with a B.S. degree in Agriculture, and did his graduate studies at WVU and Penn State. He taught Vocational Agriculture for over 35 years, first at Point Marion High School, later at the Albert Gallatin High School, and retired from Fayette County Vocational Technical School.
He was a former member of the New Geneva Presbyterian Church and since 1960, has been a faithful member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Smithfield. Bruce held numerous positions of leadership and was a Sunday school teacher at both churches.
An active member of the Grange for 65 years, he was a past member of the Gallatin Grange and current member of the York Run Grange, and also a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, Alpha Zeta honorary fraternity and Brock and Bridle.
Predeceased is his wife of 72 years, Marie S. Robinson, who died February 3, 2006 and two brothers, Paul and Robert Robinson and a sister, Katrine Pase.
Surviving are his two sons and their spouses: Bruce Jr. and Judy Robinson of Taylor, Mich. and Thomas Allen and Ruth Robinson of Morgantown, W. Va.; three granddaughters; three grandsons; six great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters and one great-great grandson.
There will be no public visitation. Friends will be received in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Smithfield, Pa., on Saturday, May 6, 2006, from 1 to 3 p.m., at which time a Memorial Service celebrating Bruce’s life will be held, with Pastor Jay Hurley officiating.
Private interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 30 Church Street, Smithfield, Pa., 15478, or the Albert Gallatin Hospice, 20 Highland Park Drive Uniontown, Pa., 15401.
