Paul Woodward Swartz
Paul Woodward Swartz, age 98, of Stoney Point, Uniontown, Pa., passed away Sunday, May 7, 2006, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born January 13, 1908, on New Salem Road, Fayette County, Pa., the son of William Lukens Swartz and Prudence Woodward Swartz.
Paul was a member of Third Presbyterian Church and attended Sandy Hill Union Church.
He was an 86-year member of Menallen Grange No. 1091 and was the oldest living member of the Menallen Grange having joined in 1920.
Paul graduated from the now former North Union High School, Class of 1926.
In his early years he delivered milk door to door from Swartz’s Dairy to Uniontown residences.
He worked for many years as Manager of the Altman Feed Stores in both Brownsville and Charleroi.
Paul dedicated his life to farming, having operated the family farm well into his nineties.
He was a member of numerous agricultural organizations.
Paul was a very hard worker, loved people and animals and was a man of tremendous integrity.
On May 8, 2003, his beloved wife, Pauline Rishel Swartz, passed away. They were married nearly 70 years.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Harry, William, Leroy and Johnnie, and sisters, Winona Yauger, Pearl Phillips and Katherine Martin.
He is survived by his daughter and caregiver, Nancy P. Swartz of Stoney Point; a son, Wayne H. Swartz and his wife, Martha, of Uniontown, Pa.; three grandchildren: Paul J. Swartz and his wife, Kelly, of Uniontown, Pa., Melanie Winklosky and her husband, Brian, of Boston, Massachusetts, and Greg D. Swartz and his wife, Heather, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six great-grandchildren: Jacob Swartz, Zachary Swartz, Madison Winklosky, Dylan Winklosky, Jordan Swartz and Madeline Swartz; and four nieces: Mildred Osborne of Uniontown, Pa., Eleanor Barrick and Sarah Knight both of Ohio and Fay Brooks of Florida.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 10, until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with the Rev. William D. Rodahaver officiating.
Interment will follow in Sandy Hill Quaker Cemetery, Uniontown.

Menallen Grange No. 1091 will conduct Services in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
