John and Judy Carter of Hague Lane, Uniontown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa, to Ronald Palo Jr. of Collier, son of Amos and Rosemary Lewis of Collier. The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School and is attending Westmoreland County Community College in the nursing program. She is employed at Yum-Yum Bagel Cafe in Uniontown.

Her fiance is a graduate of Albert Gallatin High School and attended Penn State University. He is an installer for Ciampanelli Brothers Flooring in Uniontown.

A July 2007 wedding is being planned.
