John F. Barath

John F. “Buzzy” Barath, age 53, of Vestaburg, Pa., died Saturday, May 13, 2006, in his home following a brief illness. He was born June 2, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York, the biological son of John F. Remak and Frances Munson Remak. His mother died June 3, 1952. His father, John, is also deceased. His mother, Priscilla Biro Barath, of Vestaburg, Pa., still survives and his father, John S. Barath, died in 1956.

Mr. Barath graduated in 1970 from Beth-Center High School and went on to graduate in 1974 from Penn State University with an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering and an Associate Degree in Mining Engineering.

He worked for two years in the RCA plant in Canonsburg, Pa.

Mr. Barath then worked for J & L Steel Corporation’s Vesta 5 Mine and was currently employed with Sony Corporation in Mount Pleasant, Pa.

Mr. Barath was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Brownsville, Pa., where he served as a Deacon in the Church.

Currently he was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Castille Ridge.

He was a member of the Centerville Sportsmen’s Club and the East Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Department where he was a member of the Scuba Diving Team.

He also enjoyed recreational scuba diving.

Mr. Barath was an active member and leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He gave of his time and knowledge serving as the Scoutmaster for the Fredericktown Troop 1391.

Mr. Barath was also Chairman of Training for Boy Scout Leaders in the Pittsburgh Council, Mon Valley District, and a Counselor for the Junior Leader Training Camp at Twin Echoes.

He obtained the honor of Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow and achieved the Wood Badge for Adult Scouting. Mr. Barath helped nurture boys into young men and helped achieve the ultimate goal in Scouting-the Rank of Eagle Scout and beyond.

On September 1, 1982, he married Cheryl Ann Organiscak Barath, who survives.

Also surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are two daughters, Jessica D. Barath and Rebecca E. Barath, both at home and a son, John F. Barath II, also at home; special cousins, Marlene and Ralph West and Carolyn and James VanDyke; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME LTD., 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, Pa., on Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Cannon officiating.

Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

A Fireman’s Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
