A Uniontown woman who was beaten with a crowbar early Saturday was released from the Uniontown Hospital following the incident, officials said. State police said Thelma Louise Turner, 44, of Adah was found slumped over and bleeding on the front porch of 220 Crossland Ave. in South Union Township at 3:30 a.m.

Robert Allan Karwatske II, 22, of Uniontown was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and various drug charges before Magisterial District Judge Joseph George, following the incident.

Police said Karwatske was taken into custody and Turner was transported to the Uniontown Hospital emergency room.

Police also seized a suspected marijuana plant found underneath the bathroom sink of the home, officials said. Also seized was drug-related paraphernalia.

Karwatske was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $200,000 bond, said police.
