Wilbur “Sonny” Staley
Wilbur “Sonny” Staley, 62, of Coal Center, (Granville), Pa., died Thursday, May 18, 2006, in Jefferson Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born May 6, 1944, in Daisytown, Pa., a son of the late Wilbur “Webb” and Albert “Bert” Staley.
Mr. Staley was a graduate of California High School.
He retired from Corning Glass Works, Charleroi, Pa., in 1998 as a Foreman. Mr. Staley received a top award from Corning for his work on a color converting system for the Plant’s Opal Baking Ware line.
On May 28, 1964, he married Wanda Ferrari of Coal Center who survives.
Also surviving, are a daughter, Sharon Lee King and her husband, Frank “Butch” of West Brownsville, Pa.; two sons: Dewayne Allen Staley and his wife, Sherry of Coal Center, Pa. (Granville), Justin Allen Staley and his fianc?, Deanna Comfort of Coal Center; three grandchildren: Aaron Michael King, Jamie Flick and James Michael Flick and a grandchild due in August; and a sister, Shirley Ann Staley of Coal Center.
Friends will be received in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, Pa., on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2006, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Aleda Menchyk officiating.
Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
