Warren Dale Monaghan
Warren Dale Monaghan, age 80, of Fort Hill, Pa., and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., and Smithfield, Pa., passed away Friday, May 19, 2006, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born January 23, 1926, in Smithfield, Pa., the son of Emmons Monaghan and Bertha Smith Monaghan.
Warren was a member of Laurel Lodge No. 651 F. & A. M. and Fayco Forest No. 152 Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
He was a veteran of World War II who served in the United States Army Air Corps.
He held membership in the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood, Pa., was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 47 in Uniontown, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8826 and the American Legion Post No. 459 both in Salisbury, Pa.
He was also a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society, “The Mighty Eight”.
Warren was a retired Railroad Engineer who worked with the B & O Chessie System and retired from CSX in 1985.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Hazel Marie Monaghan.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Rosemary Stark Monaghan; two sons: Sidney Dale “Butch” Monaghan of Uniontown, Pa., and Gregory Warren Monaghan of Smock, Pa.; three grandchildren: Elizabeth Leigh, Kelly Kathleen and Gregory Warren; and one sister, Mary Louise Zeigler and her husband, Ed, of Smithfield, Pa.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 23, until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with the Rev. Art Mace officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 will conduct Military Services at graveside.
Laurel Lodge No. 651 F. & A. M. will hold Services in the Funeral Home today at 7:30 p.m.
