Police seek 3 who robbed ice cream truck
Uniontown police said three men robbed a man who was driving an ice cream truck through Pershing Court Sunday afternoon. According to police reports, 57-year-old Carl Yauger of Uniontown told officers he was driving the ice cream truck through Pershing Court around 2:30 p.m. when a man in his late 40s approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and reportedly said, “You wanna do something big man?”
Yauger told police another male in his late teens then approached the passenger side of the ice cream truck and pointed a small black automatic handgun at him and demanded money.
Police said Yauger gave the man $10 from his pocket. A third male, also in his late teens, reached into the truck and removed about $60 from a money box inside the vehicle, according to reports.
According to police, the men fled the scene after stealing the money.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate any of the suspects, police reported, noting that the case will be turned over to the department’s detectives for further investigation.
Police said the older man was black and was wearing a black toboggan rolled up at the sides and a blue or black sweatshirt.
The teenagers were black and were reported to be wearing blue or black sweatshirts, police said.
