Helen I. Bartus Popielarczyk Kravetz

Helen I. Bartus Popielarczyk Kravetz, 90, of Washington, Pa., formerly of Fredericktown (Deemston Boro.) died Wednesday May 24, 2006, at 2 p.m., in Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington. Mrs. Kravetz was born June 19, 1915, in Vestaburg, Pa., a daughter of Albert and Catherine Bogna Bartus.

A homemaker, Mrs. Kravetz was a member of Saint Michael Archangel Church of the Saint Oliver Plunkett Parish in Fredericktown where she previously served as President and Treasurer of the Saint Michaels Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of American Legion Post 705, Centerville.

She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, baking, sewing and gardening. She especially enjoyed growing roses, which decorated the front of her home.

On August 29, 1936, she married John C. Popielarczyk who died December 17, 1976. On October 3, 1983 she married John Kravetz who died April 28, 1991.

Surviving are three daughters: Frances T. Cunningham of Fredericktown (Centerville Boro.), Mary M. Bailey of Fredericktown (Deemston Boro.), and Dr. Helen L. Romano of Longneck, Del.; one sister, Pearl Caglia of Brownsville, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to her parents and husbands are one son, Carl J. Popielarczyk who died June 18, 1990; one daughter, Joanne Christe who died May 1, 1986; four brothers, Edward, Stanley, Walter and Dr. Frank A. Bartus; four sisters, Frances Bartus, Mildred Bogus, Stella Balla and Marie Constance.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, Pa., where a Prayer Service will be held Saturday May 27, 2006, at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., in the Saint Michael Church of the Saint Oliver Plunkett Parish, Fredericktown with Rev. Paul Grunebach as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Westland Cemetery, Brownsville (Centerville Boro.). The Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers of the Church will hold a joint Rosary at 3 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.
