Luzerne Twp. Prisoners injured

Officials at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette (SCI Fayette) confirmed Friday that an inmate fight erupted in the recreation yard of the prison at 6:25 p.m. Mark A. Krysevig, SCI Fayette deputy superintendent, said 12 inmates were involved in the altercation. Three of the inmates were taken to community hospitals for treatment while several other inmates were treated in the prison infirmary. Krysevig said the institution was secure Friday night, however, it was locked down. Department of Corrections officials and the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.

Saltlick Twp.

Truck stolen

Leslie Ahlborn of Westmoreland County told state police that her 1995 red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was stolen from the Mount Pine Resort in Saltlick Township between 8 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Boy caught

State police said a 15-year-old boy was found using chewing tobacco while attending school at the Fayette County Area Vocational Technical School in Georges Township May 24.

Dunbar Twp.

Tools stolen

Monty Ray Murphy of Springfield Township told state police that a Stihl chain saw, his Husquavarna chain saw and a pole trimmer were stolen from 49 Woodvale Road between 8 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday, according to state police.

Georges Twp.

Burglary reported

Michael Helwig, 49, of Smithfield, told police that someone broke into his cabin, located across from a residence at 141 Barton Hollow Road sometime between May 15 and 17 and took a 12-gauge shotgun, three fishing rods with three fishing tackle boxes, eight outdoor solar lights and an air mattress. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Uniontown at 724-439-7111.

Man charged

Ronald Lee Huweart of Coal Center was charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct after he was found in a condemned apartment on Second Street in California recently, borough police said.

Arrest made

Scottdale police confirmed Friday that they arrested one person in a burglary case, but no other information was available at presstime.

Bentleyville

Man charged

State police at Belle Vernon reported that Samuel Bibbee, no age given, of Monongahela, is allegedly the man who stole a credit card from a Morgantown, W.Va., gym and went on a shopping spree April 25. Police said Bibbee, who was lodged in the Allegheny County Jail since May 25, was transferred to the Dauphin Country Jail Friday where he is charged in Camp Hill for identical crimes. Additional charges are pending across the state, according to police.

Three vehicles collide

State police said three vehicles were involved in an accident Tuesday when a vehicle driven by James Cline, 66, of Latrobe collided with a vehicle driven by Susan Seman, 39, of Dunbar at the Route 119 intersection with Laurel Mall. Police said Seman’s vehicle then struck a vehicle driven by Christine Ruck, 18, of Connellsville. Dunbar, Monarch and Morrell volunteer fire departments and Fayette EMS assisted police at the scene.

Two cited for fight

Two Fayette County Area Vocational Technical School male students were cited for disorderly conduct Thursday after allegedly getting into a physical altercation while on school grounds.

Rostraver Twp.

Interstate closed

A portion of Interstate 70, in Rostraver Township, was closed for about an hour Thursday when Virginia H. Boso, 38, of Belle Vernon, lost control of her vehicle and struck a concrete barrier, crossed both eastbound lanes and struck a dirt embankment adjacent to the south berm. According to police, Boso was towing a camper trailer that dislodged and landed on its right side facing west along the south berm. Police said the roadway was closed until the vehicle and trailer were towed from the scene. Members of the Rostraver Volunteer Fire Co. assisted police at the scene.
