Starr Martin has been named April sudent of the mnth by the faculty of Laurel Business Institute (LBI). She graduated May 18 with her secialized asociate degree in acounting. Martin has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average for four consecutive semesters. Her goal is to be valedictorian of her class. Martin interned at the Fayette County Courthouse, Jackson Hewitt and Fayette County ARC. Martin plans to continue her education by transferring credits from LBI to Point Park University, where she will pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Her goal is to become an auditor for the IRS. Martin is a member of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) and will compete in human resource management this month at PBL’s State Leadership Conference in Lancaster.

Martin is a 1999 graduate of Waverly Central High School in Tennessee.

Martin, a resident of Smithfield, has a 3-year-old son.
