Merle (Clingan) Panko, age 84, of Orlando, Florida, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2006, in Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, Florida. She was born October 9, 1921, in Hopwood, Pa., daughter of John Milton Clingan and Cora Mae (Bell) Clingan.

Mrs. Panko was a member of Saint John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Uniontown, Pa., and also Good Catholic Church in Orlando, Florida.

She loved to travel with her husband, Carmen, and always had a smile.

She enjoyed sewing, painting and family activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carmen Panko in 2001, and a sister, Ethel.

Surviving are these brothers and sisters: John Clingan Jr. of Las Vas, Nevada, Allen Clingan of McMurray, Pa., Roy Clingan of Canonsburg, Pa., Gary Clingan of El Cajon, California, Norma Miller of Seminole, Florida, Marian Reich of North Olmstead, Ohio, Arlene Frankenberry of Berea, Ohio, and Sharon Knudson of Caryville, Tennessee; these special nieces: Marian McCann and her husband, Fred, of Hopwood, Pa., Marcy Pollock and her husband, Scott, of Cranberry Township, Pa., Nina Panko and her husband, Carl, of Garfield Heights, Ohio, Barbara Zapotosky and her husband, Mel, of Ohio, and Marilyn Carr of Cleveland, Ohio; and nephews.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 31, until 10:30 a.m. when a Panachida Service will be held.

Divine Liturgy follows at 11 a.m. in Saint John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, East Main Street, Uniontown, with the Rev. Father Thomas J. Wesdock as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Saint John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.

Parastas Service will be held in the Funeral Home today, May 30 at 7 p.m.
