Harold Newton ‘Newt’ Yauger
Harold Newton “Newt” Yauger, 86, of Lemont Furnace, Pa., died on Thursday, September 28, 2006, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born on December 18, 1919, in Yauger Hollow, Pa., a son of William and Minnie (Franks) Yauger.
His parents, a son, Kevin Yauger, brothers, James, Chas, Jim, Enoch and Marvin Yauger and sisters, Gladys Weaver and Beatrice Hanan, four brothers and sisters in infancy, and a son-in-law, Tom Bubonovich preceded him in death.
During World War II and four major battles, “Newt” proudly served his country with the United States Army. He attended Cove Run Free Methodist Church and retired from A.C. Moyer Construction Company as a heavy equipment operator. In earlier years, he operated the family owned timber business.
A loving husband and devoted father and grandfather, “Newt” enjoyed being at home with his family. He was a true patriot, loved his country and the outdoors. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 61 years, Virginia Genevieve (Collins) Yauger; four children: Anna Mae Bubonovich of Clinton, Maryland, “Newt” Yauger and wife, Sheila of Lemont Furnace, Bruce Allen Yauger and wife, Ercelle of Mitchelville, Maryland and Colleen Joy Poad and husband, Chris of Clinton; five grandchildren: Tommy and Megan Bubonovich, Jason N. Yauger, C.J. and Kurt Poad; two sisters: Margaret Raymond of Lemont Furnace and Eleanor Matthews and husband, George of Mount Braddock, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday, October 2, 2006, until 1 p.m. the hour of Service with the Rev. Roger Yeager officiating.
Interment will follow at the Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa., where George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 will accord Military Honors.
