Arley Gale Kinder

Arley Gale Kinder, age 82, of Fredericktown (Centerville Borough), Pa., died Sunday, October 1, 2006, in the Washington County Health Center, Washington, Pa., following a lengthy illness. He was born December 16, 1923, in Fredericktown, Pa., the son of Ernest Kinder and Della Hormel Kinder.

Mr. Kinder was a veteran of World War II who served as a Sergeant in the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. For his service, he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.

Following his honorable discharge from the service, he became employed by the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation as an underground miner in the Vesta No. 5 coal mine where he worked for over 18 years.

He was later employed for many years at Ametek Specialty Metals in Eighty Four, Pa., as a Millwright before retiring in 1986.

He was a member of the Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 in Centerville.

He enjoyed spending time and working on the family farm.

In 1943, he married Catherine Wyles Kinder, who survives. At the time of his death, they had been married for 53 years.

Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth Kinder and Jay Kinder, both of Fredericktown; two sisters: Nevella Brown of Fredericktown and Gertrude Murphy of Richeyville, Pa.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Arlene Corrigan who died in 1994, two brothers, Floran Kinder and Lawrence Kinder, and two sisters, Lorraine Kinder and Tracy Kinder.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street (Route 40), Beallsville, Pa., where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James S. Markley officiating.

Interment will follow in Westland Cemetery, Centerville Borough, where Full Military Rites and Honors will be accorded at graveside by the Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post No. 705 of Centerville.
