Woman waives stabbing case to court
A 20-year-old Brownsville woman charged with stabbing her boyfriend with a steak knife during an altercation at her South Hills Terrace home last month has waived all charges to court. Candice Johnson, of 5 South Hills Terrace, was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment before Magisterial District Judge Michael Defino following the stabbing Sept. 15, according to police.
Johnson waived the charges to Fayette County Court during a hearing held before Defino Saturday.
Johnson is accused of fending off her boyfriend, Corey Hall, during the fight by stabbing him twice in the back with the knife, police said.
Hall was taken to Uniontown Hospital by Brownsville Ambulance for treatment following the stabbing and will face charges of simple assault and harassment in juvenile court.
According to Brownsville police officer Stanley P. Jablonsky, Hall, who frequented Johnson’s home, arrived at the residence at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 15. Jablonsky said Johnson confronted Hall about “staying out all night long.” Police said during the argument, Hall picked Johnson up off the living room couch and threw her onto the floor.
After she got up, police said Hall pushed Johnson into the kitchen, where Johnson subsequently retrieved the steak knife, stabbing Hall in the back twice.
Jablonsky said Hall had two puncture wounds in his back when police arrived and was bleeding.
