Melvin L. Fritz
Melvin L. Fritz, 76, of Unity Township, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born January 6, 1930 in Baggaley, a son of the late Walter B. and Rose M. (Schick) Fritz.
Prior to retirement he was a crane operator for the former Vulcan Mold, Latrobe, and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Saint Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney, life member of Unity Township American Legion Post 982, Pipetown, and was an avid horseshoe pitcher, bowler and loved camping.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Molocznik) Fritz, and a sister, Josephine Dunlap.
He is survived by two daughters: Stephanie I. King and husband, Elmer of Youngwood and Melanie L. Fritz of Mount Pleasant; three brothers: Raymond F. of Latrobe, Walter R. of Berwyn, III, and Wendel E. Fritz of Joppa, Md.; a sister, Sedella Goughler of Coraopolis; his fianc?e, Bernell Echer of Fairchance; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. A Blessing Service will be held at 10:30 p.m., Saturday in the Funeral Home with The Rev. James Martin as Celebrant.
Military Services accorded by the combined honor guard of American Legion Post 982 and VFW Post 8643 and interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
