Eugene Herbert Crable

Eugene Herbert “Herb” Crable, 75, of Adah, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2006, in his home with his loving family at his side. He was born January 11, 1931, in Herbert, Redstone Township, Pa., a son of Henry J. Crable and Irene B. Brady.

His parents, a grandson, Nicholas J. Crable, a sister, Betty Jane Press, a brother, Donald Crable and a brother-in-law, Jack Press, predeceased him.

Herb was a member of the Lambert Union Church, retired form United States Steel, a member of Local 6321 and a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. Along with his full time job, Mr. Crable spent his spare time farming on the family property.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara L. Davis Crable; three sons, David E. Crable and his wife, Bettie Rita of Masontown, Gerald E. Crable and his wife, Tammy of Adah and Mark A. Crable and his wife, Jodi of Adah; grandchildren: Douglas Crable, Roger Crable, Jeffrey Crable, Gerald Crable and wife, Lindsay, Jessica Crable and Joshua Crable; a brother, Robert Crable of Hibbs; a sister, Gloria Owens of New Jersey; a half-brother, Bill Stewart; and many nephews and nieces.

Family and friends will be received in the H. DAVID McELROY FUNERAL HOME, 803 Main Street, McClellandtown, Pa., this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday until 11 a.m. the hour of Service. The Rev. Robert Patton, Pastor of the Lambert Union Church will officiate. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service.
