Brittney Haines, a 2006 graduate of Uniontown High School, was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Bruderhof Communities of Farmington. Haines is the daughter of Doug and Dora Haines of Farmington.

Recipients had to have a history of academic excellence to be considered for the scholarship,. Recipients also were required to write an essay expressing how the scholarship would help them pursue higher education.

Haines is majoring in nursing at Penn State University of Pennsylvania.
