Personal care home property damaged by intruders

By The 1 min read

Intruders did an estimated $10,000 in damage to the former personal care home property owned by Edythe Maxine Shipley when they stole about $100 in copper pipes and wires. State police said that the property at 372 Sunshine Hollow Road in German Township was broken into around 11 a.m. Oct. 4.

The burglarized property is the former May Day Personal Care Home.

Shipley, of 168 Cemetery Road, Vanderbilt had proposed the property as an alternative housing facility to help alleviate overcrowding in Fayette County’s prison. However, the county’s zoning hearing board denied her request for the special exception that would allow the plan to proceed.

Shipley has appealed the denial to Common Pleas Court.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call trooper Nicholas Petrosky at the barracks at 724-439-7111.
