Preliminary hearing continued
A preliminary hearing scheduled for a 34-year-old Point Marion man charged with raping a 12-year-old girl was continued Thursday. Kevin Dewayne Cole of 155 Clark St. Ext. was charged Oct. 2 with rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault before Magisterial District Judge Randy Abraham.
A new hearing has been set for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 2 before Abraham.
State police said the unidentified victim told officers that the first alleged sexual contact occurred about one month ago when she was spending the night at Cole’s Springhill Township residence with a friend who lives there.
Trooper David Bell said the girl told police that after she fell asleep, Cole touched her inappropriately in several different areas of her body.
The girl told Bell that she again went to Cole’s house in late September to spend the weekend with her friend, Bell said.
Bell said the girl told police she was “half-asleep” on the couch in the living room Sunday morning around 3 a.m. when Cole, who had been sleeping on the floor, got up and began to touch her inappropriately.
Additionally Bell said the girl told investigators that Cole had brief sexual intercourse with her and then left the living room.
Cole remains in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond.
