Couple reaches agreement over $1 million lottery ticket

By The 1 min read

Ex-lovers in a dispute over the proceeds of a $1 million instant lottery ticket have reached an undisclosed settlement in the case. Mary Rechichar of Uniontown scratched off the $275 Million Cash Extravaganza ticket on March 11 at Dan’s Marathon Gas Station in Republic. Her former lover, Yvonne Evans, claimed that after Rechichar scratched it off and realized she won on March 11, it was Evans who came to the station to pay for the $20 ticket.

Evans of New Salem claimed the women used joint bank accounts for household expenses and had an agreement that they would split any lottery winnings.

The women mailed the ticket claim to the Pennsylvania Lottery Commission on March 13, and the suit indicated that Rechichar told Evans on March 20 that she would not split the money with her.

Shortly after the suit was filed, Fayette County Judge Steve P. Leskinen ordered that Rechichar would receive $300,000 of the winnings, but the remainder was put in an account until the dispute could be settled.
