Master Sergeant USAF (Ret.) Glenn Robert Mitchell, 94, of Donegal, Pa., formerly of Uniontown, Pa., and Boynton Beach, Fla., was called to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, with his brother by his side, after a brief illness in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, Pa. Born August 26, 1912, in North Union Township, Fayette County, Pa., he was a son of the late James W. and Elizabeth (Glover) Mitchell.

He was a 1931 graduate of Uniontown Senior High School. He started his military career in 1932 in the United States Army and after several enlistments he was honorably discharged in 1963 from the United States Air Force, after serving over 30 years in the military. During his United States Air Corps service in World War II, he was stationed in Northern France, Germany and Normandy and was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the American Defense Service Medal. During his Korean Conflict service with the United States Air Force, he was awarded the Japanese Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medals.

He is survived by two daughters: Marietta Glynn Barry of San Diego, Cal., and Carol Susan Malone of Ocala, Fla.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers: James Mitchell Jr. of Uniontown, Pa., and Thomas Mitchell of Salem, Va.; five sisters: Rose Marie Carroll of Monaca, Pa., Alice Show of Uniontown, Pa., Ruth Martin of Carnegie, Pa., Mary Catherine Wilson of Vista, Cal., and Florence Meredith of Sarasota, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, of 69 years, Ida Mae (Marietta) Mitchell on September 14, 2006, and two sisters, Minnie Golcher and Phyllis Gray.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, October 28, 2006, in the KREGAR COMMUNITY CHURCH in Stahlstown, Pa., with Pastor Keith Hauger officiating.

Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville, Pa., with full military rites by the VFW Post 6743 Donegal and the American Legion Post 301 Connellsville.
