Health screening planned
The Republic Rotary Club is sponsoring their annual health awareness screening. Testing will be held at the Redstone Recreation Center, 216 Republic Road in Republic. The test date is Saturday, Nov. 4 from 7 to 10 a.m. the multiphasic blood test, including lipid profile, consists of 39 tests. At a cost of $39, this program is an opportunity to screen against major health problems including diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, anemia and cholesterol. Test results can be sent directly to the participant and be reviewed by lab physician for $7, urine testing $10, rheumatoid arthritis testing $8, colon rectal testing $7, thyroid profile $45, prostate cancer screening test (PSA) $30. A C-Reactive Protein blood test is $25. This protein can be found in inflammatory diseases such as coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction or stroke.
A water test, which analyzes well and spring water for coliform bacteria, is also offered for $20. A CA-125 Test is now available at a cost of $40. This blood test aids in the detection of ovarian cancer in women. Also, for women, a CA 27.29 is available. This cost aids in the detection of breast cancer. Its cost is $40. A homocysteine level is available at $40. If high level is reported, it can show risk of Heart Disease or Stroke.
