Peter S. Vlosich

Peter S. Vlosich, 88, a lifelong resident of Grindstone, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, in the Uniontown Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 30, 1918, in Grays Landing, Pa., son of the late Karlo and Frances Mellis Vlosich.

Peter was a life member of Saint Cecelia’s Roman Catholic Church in Grindstone and was involved in the planning and building of Saint Cecelia’s Church. He served as a parish council member, usher, and Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Grindstone American Legion Post 275, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 in Uniontown, Grindstone Lions Club, Brownsville Sportsman’s Club.

Peter was a veteran of World War II serving as a staff sergeant in the United States Army 2nd Infantry Division in the European Theatre.

He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation after 42 years of service.

Peter was predeceased by his wife, Louise C. DeSimone Vlosich, two children, Peter S. Vlosich Jr., and Judy Vlosich Caro, three brothers, Michael, John, and James Vlosich, and one sister, Mary Sabatini.

Peter was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by three children: Stanley Vlosich and wife, Kathleen of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Jerome Vlosich of Grindstone, Pa., Janet Doman and husband, William E. Jr., of Grindstone, Pa.; eight grandchildren: Stanley C. Vlosich and wife, Karen of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Andrew Pegritz of Tampa, Fla., Jamie, Kimberly, and David Caro of Port Charlotte, Fla., Craig Doman and wife, Jessica of Bethel Park, Pa., Natalie and Chad Doman of Grindstone, Pa.; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., and on Monday where a Prayer Service will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at Saint Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church in Grindstone, Pa., with the Rev. Father John Sedlak as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park where full military rites will be accorded by American Legion Posts 295, 275, 940, and 838.

The Partner Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

A Parish Vigil Service will be held today at 8 p.m.
