John S. Hincy

John S. Hincy, age 84, of Brownsville, Pa., died Saturday, October 21, 2006, in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc., Carroll Township, following a lengthy illness. He was born September 4, 1922, in West Pike Run Township, Washington County, Pa., the son of John Hincy Sr. and Ruth Chew Hincy.

Mr. Hincy was Methodist by faith.

He graduated from Brownsville High School.

Mr. Hincy was a veteran of World War II who served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army in Germany and France. He landed on the beaches of Normandy during D-Day.

On July 1, 1944, he married Dorothy E. Koonce Hincy.

He was the co-owner and operator, with his wife Dorothy, of Trumper Menswear in Brownsville and Washington, Pa.

He also worked at and retired from the Chemical Plant in Newell, Pa.

Mr. Hincy was preceded in death by a sister who died in infancy, his parents, his wife Dorothy on September 4, 1995, and a sister, Kathryn Hincy Belcher.

Surviving are a brother-in-law, James Koonce and his wife, Lamerle, of Mississippi; nieces: Martha Daugherty and Katherine Shephard both of Cambridge, Ohio, and his caretaker and niece, Mary Johnson and her husband, Larry, of Brownsville, Pa.; and a very close friend, John “Red” Bell of Brownsville, Pa. Also surviving are several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street (Route 40), Beallsville, Pa., where Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jana Quisenberry officiating.

Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, West Pike Run Township.
