Woodrow “Babe” Hughes, 89, of Point Marion, Pa., died Thursday, October 26, 2006, in his home. He was a coal miner, retiring from United States Steel’s Robena Mine in 1979.

Surviving is his wife, Bertha King Hughes; children: Lonnie, Sr. and Helen Hughes of Olivia, N.C., Woody, Jr., and Karen Hughes, Dewey F. and Debbie Hughes, Robert W. and Janice Hughes, Faye Ellen and Joseph Burnette, and Lonnie Jr., and Terry Hughes, all of Point Marion; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday until 11 a.m., the hour of service.
