Alex Kenneth Volek, 79, of McClellandtown, Pa., died Wednesday, October, 25, 2006, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. A Federal Mine Inspector, he worked for the United States Mine Safety and Health Administration for 17 years, followed by four years in the Federal Assessment Office in Uniontown, Pa.

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, having served with the Seabees in the South Pacific.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Carrick Fedor Volek; children and their spouses: Alexander and Lisa Volek of Point Marion, Linda and Bob Sharpnack of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary and Elzie Lavery of Point Marion, R.D. and Alexis and Victor Bouillon of Chillicothe, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers and their wives: John and Nancy Volek of Point Marion, R.D. and Lenny and Candi Volek of Uniontown; and sister, Dolores Beck of Merrittstown, Pa.

Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Pa., on Monday from 3 to 8 p.m.
