Frances Hood
Frances Hood, 87, of Morgantown, West Virginia, died Saturday, October 28, 2006, after a prolonged illness. She was born January 27, 1919, in Morgantown, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Ervin David and Katherine McCloskey Sanders.
She was a loving homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Spruce Street United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Helping Hands Sunday school class. She was a lifetime member of the Monongalia General Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Pennsylvania and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 548.
She was a volunteer at Monongalia General Hospital for more than 13 years, where she accumulated over 10,000 hours of service in the Admissions and Same Day Surgery Departments.
She is survived by two sons, James David Hood of Connellsville, Pa. and Albert Ray Hood of Davie, Florida; a sister, Anna Blanche Baker of Morgantown; and a brother-in-law, Alvin Hood of Morgantown; five grandchildren: James Hood and Joel Hood of Connellsville, Jill Underhill of Richmond, Texas, Michael Hood and Carrie Hood of Davie, Florida; and two great-grandchildren.
She was married to Albert Hood for 48 years until his death in 1983. Her brother, Franklin David Sanders also preceded her in death.
Family and friends may call at HASTINGS FUNERAL HOME, 153 SPRUCE STREET, MORGANTOWN, WEST VIRGINIA, on Monday, October 30, 2006, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, October 31, 2006 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ruth Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
