Marcella Marie Core
Marcella Marie Core, 60, a lifelong resident of Masontown, Pa., passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born on August 11, 1946, in Masontown, Pa., a daughter of John V. Zapotosky Sr. and Margaret (Yest) Zapotosky.
Her parents and sister, Frances Berrish preceded her in death.
Marcella was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church and a life member of the Faith- Gray-McArdle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 Auxiliary.
She devoted tremendous volunteer support to the VFW, especially during the holiday events.
An avid collector of angels, she also loved to cook and bake for her family.
She was a wonderful wife and mother and cherished time spent with her beloved grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Albert “Ab” E. Core Sr., with whom she celebrated 42 years of marriage on October 14; two sons, Albert “Abby” Core Jr., and his wife Diane of McClellandtown, Pa., and S/Sgt. John “Johnny” V. Core Sr. USMC and his wife Robin, stationed at Twenty-Nine Palms, California; five grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke, Lindsey, Alexandria and John Jr.; four sisters, Mary Biller of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Evelyn Homa of Stephens City, Virginia, Margaret Sopko and Dolores Yonish and husband Robert, all of Balsinger, Pa; a brother, John V. Zapotosky Jr. and wife Nancy of Masontown, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. She also leaves behind her loving pet, “Patches.”
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday until 10 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Father John M. Butler officiating.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa.
