Peter Vincent LaFisca Sr.”If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again.”
Peter Vincent LaFisca Sr., 70, of Dunbar, Pa., passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, October 29, 2006, with his loving family at his side. Pete was born on October 26, 1936, in Dunbar, Pa., and was a son of the late Liborio and Liboria LaFisca.
Left to cherish the memories of their life together is his wife of 49 years, Frances Cumberland LaFisca. He is also survived by his children, daughter, Barb and husband Gary Cook of Dunbar, son, Peter and wife Tamela of Lemont Furnace, daughter, Jane and husband Ron Kennedy of Dunbar, and son, Martin and fianc? Kim Blackstone of Connellsville; his grandchildren, Nicole and husband Jeff Doss, Jennifer Cook and fianc? Dan Landman, Jessica Cook and fianc? Scotty Keffer, Angela LaFisca and fianc? Brad Jenkins, Christopher and Samantha Kennedy, Danielle LaFisca, and Zachary Blackstone; his great-grandsons, Jacob Doss ad Hayden Keffer; his sister, Rose and husband Francis Schwenning; his brothers, Michael and wife Ruth LaFisca and Samuel and wife Olive LaFisca; his sisters-in-law, Betty LaFisca and Linda LaFisca; two special nephews, Mark Wilson and his wife Teresa and Donald Wilson and his wife Nancy; his other numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved pup, Sandy.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by four sisters, Grace, Elda, Concetta and Asunta and two brothers, Clement and Joseph.
Peter served in the United States Air Force, was a member of the Laborers’ Local #1058, and was a retired Deputy Fish Warden. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He served his community as a previous councilman and former Mayor of Dunbar.
He was a member of Saint Aloysius Church where he also belonged to the Holy Name Society. Pete loved to cook fried dough at the Fayette County Fair for his church.
He was a longtime football coach for the Dunbar Mules, a fireman for the Dunbar Volunteer Fire Department, a Master Mason of King Solomon’s Lodge #346, a Noble of the Mystic Shrine of Pittsburgh and Santa Claus for several organizations.
The family will received friends in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME in Dunbar, Pa., today, October 31, 2006, from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, from 1 to 9 p.m. and until 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2006. The Masons will honor Pete with a service at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1.
Morning prayers will be said on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated 10 a.m. at Saint Aloysius Church in Dunbar, Pa., with the Monsignor J. Edward McCullough as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Dunbar, Pa.
The Rosary will be said on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
Military Graveside Services will be accorded by the American Legion Post #301; American Legion Post #762 and the VFW Post #21 Honor Guard will participate.
