Charles R. “Rip” Collins, 88, of Masontown, Pa., died Tuesday, August 29, 2006. He was born August 12, 1918, in Bessemer, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude E. (Watson) Collins in 2004; his parents, James C. and Idella May DeVault Collins; brother, Gilbert Collins; sisters, Flo Booth, Pauline Gibson, Jessie Dunham, Ann Bowman, Frances Miller and Kathryn Albright.

Surviving are a son, Wayne Collins and his wife, Rose of San Clemente, C.A.; one sister, Evelyn Ferchak of Tucson, Arizona.

Rip worked as a plasterer and served his country in World War II in the United States Marine Corps.

Arrangements are under the direction of the BERNARD M. TOWNSEND FUNERAL HOME, 220 South Main Street, Masontown, Pa.

A graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday September 29, 2006 in the Masontown Cemetery at 11 a.m.
