Daniel Elko
Daniel Elko, 78, of Hopwood, Pa., went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2006, in Allegheny General Hospital with his family by his side. He was born June 19, 1928, in Brownsville, Pa., the son of Peter and Cecelia (Huchock) Elko.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ann Tretiak and Cecelia Harris.
Daniel was a member of the Central Christian Church in Uniontown, Pa.
He served Honorably in Field Communications in the United States Marines with the 2nd Division in World War II and as a Korean Reserve.
He was employed with Bell Telephone for forty years when he retired in 1991.
Daniel was a member of the Fayette Lodge 228 F. & A.M. and the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and a member of the AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa.
He is survived by his loving wife Gloria (Billiani) Elko of Hopwood, Pa.; a son, Daniel G. Elko and wife Diane and grandchildren, Brittney Alexandra and Derek all of Houston, Texas; another son, Mark A. Elko and wife Betsy and grandchildren, Leah Welsh and husband Joe and Addison all of Massapequa, New York; brothers, John Elko of Pittsburgh, Pa., Philip Elko of Brownsville, Pa. and Nathan Elko of Florida; a sister, Marilyn of Shaler, Pa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. in the Central Christian Church, Uniontown, Pa., on Saturday, September 2, with the Rev Art Mace officiating.
Entombment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association.
AMVETS POST 103 will accord military rites at the entombment.
