Regina Maher Donofrio
Regina Maher Donofrio, 82, of Anderson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully August 28, 2006, in the Brookside Nursing Center in Anderson, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Nora Maher. She was also preceded in death by her husband Anthony and her daughter Maurita.
Born in Palmer, Pa., in 1924 Regina graduated from the Uniontown High School in 1942 and received her Nursing Degree from Monongalia General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She was employed at the Uniontown Hospital and earned her BS in Nursing Education from California State College in 1974. From there she continued her nursing career in Lake Worth Florida until her retirement.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Michelle McDowell and husband Albert of Uniontown, Pa. and Toni Lee and husband John S. Skakandy Jr. of Anderson, South Carolina; loving sons, Martin and Donald both of New Salem, Pa.; her grandchildren, Albert McDowell of Lorain, Ohio and Oceanna Marr Fage’t of Austin, Texas; sister, Madeline Hanson of Amery, Wisconsin; brothers, John Maher and wife Dorothy of Greensburg, Pa. and Charles T. Maher and wife Theresa of Chalfant, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Ceil Maher of Chicago, Illinois and Santi Donofrio of New Salem; and her nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. in SAINT THERESA DE LISIEUX ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH with the Rev. Father Kenneth G. Zaccagnini, V.F. as Celebrant.
Interment follows in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
Honoring Regina’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Friends and family are invited to gather between 9 and 9:30 a.m. at the church on Tuesday morning prior to Mass to pay their respects.
