Post office to conduct Passport Fair
The Uniontown Post Office will conduct a Passport Fair with extended hours on Saturday, Sept. 30. The office will be open from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for normal business and remain open until 4 p.m. to process passport applications only.
All customers who apply for a new passport that day will receive a luggage identification tag that includes a peel-off coupon for a free personalized photo book from shutterfly.com.
New laws soon will require Americans to have passports when traveling to countries such as Canada and Mexico.
Obtaining a passport is quick, easy and convenient at the Uniontown Post Office, according to Postmaster Daniel A. Klein.
Normally, it costs $97 for adults (16 years and older), with separate payments of $67 paid to the State Department for the passport application fee and $30 to the Postal Service for its processing fee. For those younger than 16, the cost is $82, with separate payments of $52 and $30, respectively. Two identical photos of each applicant are required, which the post office can take care of for a fee. For expedited passport service, add $60 for each application.
