Wharton residents appointed to steering committee
WHARTON TWP. – Township supervisors appointed three residents Wednesday to represent the township as volunteers on a steering committee for a comprehensive plan that will cover several municipalities. Supervisors appointed Denise Simon, Tammy Stenson and Jeff Tomi to the committee.
The other municipalities joining to form the plan are Henry Clay Township, Stewart Township, Saltlick Township, Ohiopyle and Markleysburg.
In other business, the supervisors approved closing Hawes Road and Smith School Road for the upcoming 84 Lumber Classic.
The supervisors said they will obtain a price quote for digging a trench for a free water line to the township park.
The National Pike Water Authority is installing an 8-inch line to Wharton School and has offered to provide a 2-inch pipe from the school to the park, Supervisor Jack Lewis said.
Supervisors said they would accept the offer if it doesn’t cost too much to dig the trench.
