Uniontown Car hits bike

Two Uniontown juvenile girls were hit by a car at 4:55 p.m. Saturday while riding a bike at the intersection of Clarendon Avenue and Dunkard Street, Uniontown police said. The girls were taken by ambulance to Uniontown Hospital. The driver, who is from Uniontown but not identified, was not injured, police said.

Infant injured

Uniontown police said Angela Garlock called 911 shortly after 1:20 a.m. Friday to report her live-in boyfriend, Stephen T. Lewis Sr. of 149 Coolspring St., had taken their 3-month-old infant after an argument.

Police said they found Lewis walking with the child in Uniontown, where he was arrested. The child was taken to Uniontown Hospital and later transferred to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for specialized care, police said. Lewis was arraigned on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault. He remains in Fayette County Prison on $100,000 straight cash bond.

Uniontown police arrested Oscar Verbus of 115 S. Mount Vernon Ave. at 2:17 a.m. Wednesday for violation of a protection-from-abuse order.

Man cited

Carl Yocabet of Hibbs was cited for public drunkenness after causing a disturbance on Coolspring Street after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Cars collide

State police said a crash occurred around 3 p.m. Friday, when a car driven by David Dickerson, 52, of Uniontown turned left onto Morgantown Road and was struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by Bridget Beichler, 21, of Sterling, Va., which was traveling south. Neither driver was injured and both were wearing seat belts, police said.

Three-car accident

State police said Edward McDowell was driving east on Route 136 around 4:30 p.m. Thursday and failed to see that cars driven by Susan Bailey of New Stanton and John Dzyak of Scottdale had stopped and were waiting to turn left.

McDowell’s car struck the rear of Bailey’s minvan, causing it to collide with Dzyak’s pickup truck, police said.

None of the drivers was injured, but McDowell’s and Bailey’s cars required towing, police said.

Car overturns

A car driven by Melissa Luetich, 16, of Ellsworth was traveling west near exit 35 of Interstate 70 in Washington County at 10 p.m. Thursday when two deer on the roadway caused her to swerve off the road and strike an embankment, state police said. The car overturned and came to a rest on its roof. Luetich was taken by ambulance to Washington Hospital for minor injuries; she was wearing a seat belt, police said.

Three-car crash

Virginia Campana, 65, of Morgantown, W.Va., was cited for several traffic violations on Friday while traveling on Route 119 just south of Route 40, state police said.

Campana swerved into another lane to avoid slowing traffic and struck a white sedan and then struck a pickup truck driven by Jay Zelmore, 32, of Smithfield, which was stopped, police said. There were no injuries.

Campana’s Subaru Impreza suffered severe front-end damage and Zelmore’s Colorado suffered moderate rear-end damage. The third car left the scene, police said.

Harassment reported

State police cited Matthew Leon Landman, 34, of Mount Braddock with harassment after threatening a physically confrontation and shouting verbal threats and obscenities at Jamie Lynn Custer, 25, of Mount Braddock and her friend in the driveway of her Percy Lane home shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Break-in attempted

Someone attempted to break into the Big Banana Fruit Market between 8 p.m. Aug. 29 and 7 a.m. Aug. 30 by trying to pry open two doors, state police said.

Teen charged

Justin T. Barclay, 19, of McClellandtown was charged with disorderly conduct after an incident in the parking lot of a Denny’s Restaurant on Route 40 at 1:13 a.m. Saturday, state police said.

Window shot

James N. Williams, 37, of Smithfield told state police that someone shot out the living room window of his Rose Circle home with a BB gun at 8:40 p.m. Friday, police said.

Pedestrian struck

David Speilman of German Township was taken to Uniontown Hospital for injuries after he was struck by a car driven by Joseph Norman Davis, 82, of Uniontown at 8:29 p.m. Friday, state police said.

Car hits deer

State police said a car driven by Joel Guthrie, 27, of Lemont Furnace, struck a deer on Nelson Road around 2 a.m. Saturday, police said. He was not injured.

South Union Twp.

Hit-and-run reported

Theresa Caballarow, 41, of Hibbs told state police that at 1:30 p.m. someone hit her car parked in the Wal-Mart lot in South Union Township on Thursday, police said.

Lights stolen

J.B. Duchek of Vanderbilt told state police that eight solar-powered landscape lights were stolen from his Dawson Road home on Thursday evening, police said.

Car crashes

Janet Logan suffered minor injuries after her car left the road around 2 p.m. Friday and struck a tree along Moyer Road, state police said. She was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
