Ronald E. Kiger, 63, of Waynesburg, Pa., died on Friday, September 8, 2006, in U.P.M.C. Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa., following a heart transplant. He was born on Thursday, December 31, 1942, in Blacksville, West Virginia, a son of Raymond and Loreen (Church) Kiger of Spraggs, Pa.

He was Presbyterian by faith, a veteran of the United States Army and member of the D.A.V. 123 of Waynesburg. He enjoyed geneology and reading. While his health permitted, he was an advid hunter.

He worked for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 29 years, retiring in 1997. He was a draftsman and a bridge inspector.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mary (White) Kiger whom he married on May 21, 1980; three daughters: Stephanie J. Stieringer of Connellsville, Pa., Lori B. Kiger of Masontown, Pa. and Amber J. Kiger of Waynesburg, Pa.; one son, Ronald E. “Butch” Kiger II of Waynesburg; five grandchildren: Renee Dawn Moore, Ashton Moore, Dennis W. Thomas Jr., Matthew A. Thomas and Ronald E. Kiger III; one sister, Kathy Ross of Spraggs, Pa.; two brothers: Jerry Kiger of Waynesburg and Harold Kiger of Daybrook, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the MILLIKEN AND THROCKMORTON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 197 NORTH MAIDEN STREET, WAYNESBURG, Pa., Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director , on Monday evening, September 11, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Cathy Carpenter officiating.

Burial will be in Claughton Cemetery, Whiteley Township, Greene County, Pa.

Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Post 4793, James Farrell American Legion Post 330 and the D.A.V. 123 all of Waynesburg.
