George E. Hancharik Sr.
George E. Hancharik Sr., age 73, of Perryopolis, Pa., died Saturday, September 9, 2006. He was born January 26, 1933, in Star Junction, Pa.
George was the son of Paul Hancharik and Mary Lopotosky Hancharik.
George was a member of Saint John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, the Perry Sokol Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Gold Star Post 7023.
He was retired from United States Steel Corporation’s National Works, McKeesport, Pa., after 30 years service as a Pipe Inspector.
George served his country for four years during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepson, Terry Williams, four sisters, Anna Ziman, Helen Petro, Catherine David and Mary, and two brothers, Paul Hancharik and John Hancharik.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Ludwick Hancharik, as well as one son, George E. Hancharik Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Somerset, Pa., and two daughters, Nancy Kuhns and her husband, Larry, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Diana Snowball and her husband, Clay, of Naples, Florida. He had 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. George is also survived by three brothers, Joe Hancharik, Steve Hancharik and Andy Hancharik, and one sister, Margaret McCory, of Cleveland, Ohio.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, at 9:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in Saint John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, with the Rev. Father John T. Euker as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Perryopolis, where Graveside Military Honors and Rites will be accorded by the Perryopolis Veterans of Foreign Wars Gold Star Post 7023 and the American Legion Post 752.
A Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
