Jean Claire Kennedy Metcalfe
Jean Claire Kennedy Metcalfe, age 83, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Friday evening, September 8, 2006, in the Uniontown Hospital. She was born January 22, 1923, in New Salem, Pa., the daughter of William Kennedy and Kathryn Boylan Kennedy.
Jean was a retired postal clerk from the New Salem Post Office, New Salem, Pa.
She was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown and a 1940 graduate of Uniontown Area Senior High School.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Elmer Metcalfe.
She is survived by her sisters: Marian Gannon of Connellsville, Pa., Kay Kennedy of Uniontown, Pa., and Lois Plaia of Satellite Beach, Florida; her brother, Bill Kennedy of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, UNIONTOWN, Pa., this morning (Monday, September 11) until 9 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Mill Street, with the Rev. Father Kenneth G. Zaccagnini, V.F., as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
Visitation was also held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
