Pauline (NANE) Tassone, 92, of Republic, Pa., passed away Monday, September 11, 2006, at the home of her grandson Michael Zeglen and his wife Linda of Rices Landing, Pa. where she made her home for the past six months. She was born on July 2, 1914, in Round Bottom, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Paul and Lelah Guerrieri. Mrs. Tassone lived most of her life in Republic, Pa.

On August 9, 1935, she married August (PAPA) Tassone of Masontown, Pa., who passed away July 4, 1991. They renewed their wedding vows while celebrating their fifty-year wedding anniversary on August 9, 1985, followed with an open house party given by their children.

Pauline was a member and past president of Republic American Legion Post 590, Ladies Auxiliary for many years, she was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Republic, and the Confraternity of Christians Mothers, and the United Mine Workers of America Auxiliary.

She was a homemaker and the best cook and baker of all times. She enjoyed cooking family meals every Sunday and always had sauce bread disappear. She also shared her baking with relatives, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed watching her grandsons play football, baseball and especially softball.

She even began to enjoy watching golf and hockey with her grandson Michael.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Elizabeth Kaminsky and a brother, William Guerrieri.

She is survived by her five children, Lucretia (Robert) Cowger of Clarksville, Pa., Lillian (William) Oktela of Lancaster, Pa., Sandy (Edward) Zeglen of Clarksville, Pa., Paulette (John) Jesko of Hanover, Pa. and August (Katy) Tassone of Columbia, Pa.; sister, Wanda Thompson; brothers, Harry (Mildred) Guerrieri and Albert (Toni) Guerrieri; fourteen grandchildren, Deborah Lynn Cowger, Edward F. Zeglen Jr., Michael Zeglen and wife Linda, Dawn Marie Oktela, William Oktela, Joseph Oktela and wife Tracy, Nicole M. Oktela, John Jesko and wife Shannon, Troy A. Jesko and wife Sherry, Kristopher Jesko, John Cooke and wife Rosemary, James Cooke and wife Yvette, Kent Cooke and wife Shannon and Roberta Zeglen; ten great-grandchildren, Edward F. Zeglen III, Mateusz Zeglen, Ryan Oktela, Tony Oktela, Alyssa Oktela, Jessica Jesko, Emily Jesko, Tyler Jesko, Brandon Teasdale and Chad Teasdale; nine great-great-grandchildren, Gavin Teasdale, Carrington Teasdale, Alexander Burkholder Oktela, Maxwell Cooke, Aiden Cooke, Alexis Cooke, Alyssa Cooke, Zayna Cooke and Jonathan Cooke.

Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME, Legion Street, Republic, today from 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.

A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church with the Rev. Father James Clark as celebrant.

Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

A Parish Wake service will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m.
