Rev. Ludwell D. Wiley PH.D
Rev. Ludwell D. Wiley PH.D went to be with the Lord on Sunday September 10, at 9:45 p.m., in his home in Fairchance, Pa. Was born December 30, 1924, in Baltimore Maryland, son of the late Leo and Vivian Wiley Goldston.
He was a graduate of Fifth Avenue High School Pittsburgh, Pa. He was ordained for the gospel ministry, January 19, 1964. He attended the American Baptist Theological Seminary in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute with a Bachelor’s Degree. He also had an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Inter Baptist Theological Center in Houston Texas. Rev. Wiley pastured the Second Baptist Church in Latrobe, Pa., and the Union Baptist Church, Monessen. After being Pastor of the Mount Rose Baptist Church, Uniontown Pa., for 27 years he retired August 2005. He was also named Pastor Emeritus for Mount Rose Baptist Church. He was the recipient of the Willa Mae Rice Community Service Award. He was actively involved in the Youghiogheny Western Baptist Association in the capacities of President and Secretary of the Ministers Conference, Regional Vice President of the Men’s Division of the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention, Moderator of the Youghiogheny Western Baptist Association from 1985-1989, also teacher for the Congress of Christian Education, also Moderator Emeritus for Youghiogheny Western Baptist Association. He was also instrumental in starting the YWBA building fund.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Wile, three adopted sons, one daughter, three brothers, and one sister.
He leaves to mourn his present wife, Loretta Green-Wiley; six children: Marcia Green of Springfield, Mass., William Green of Fairchance, Esther (Artie) Miller of Prior Lake Minnesota, Francis Green of Burlington, N.J., Timothy Green of Philadelphia, Pa., Mark (Aisha) Green of Philadelphia, Pa.; also six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received Friday, September 15, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., in the Mount Rose Baptist Church, 9 Grant Street, Uniontown, Pa., and Saturday until 11 p.m., the hour of service with the Rev. David Lee bringing the eulogy assisted by Rev. William C. Calloway.
Interment in the Mount Macrina Cemetery under the direction of the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa.
