Ronald Anthony Susano
Ronald Anthony Susano, 76, of Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, September 12, 2006, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 6, 1929, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of the late Anthony Susano and Mary Burke Susano.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James Susano.
Ronald was a member of Saint Therese Roman Catholic Church where he was an usher for many years. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. He was also a licensed Coast Guard Captain and a member of the Maryland State Charterboat Association. In his younger years, Ronald loved all sports, especially baseball and even drew interest from the Detroit Tigers organization. He was notable in the Fayette County Baseball League throughout the 50’s and 60’s. He also excelled in golf, winning three club championships in three decades. In 1993, he retired from Giant Food Inc., and returned to is love of farming on Stoney Point Road, raising cattle and growing tomatoes.
Ronald will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Katherine Stevens Susano; his four loving children: Kathryn Susano Morris of Uniontown, Pa., Anthony R. Susano of Dunkirk, Md., Deborah Clements of Berlin, Md., and Joel S. Susano of Crownsville, Md.; and his beloved eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by a sister, Mary Kathryn Bailey of Wayne, M.I.
Friends and family will be received in the DOLFI FUNERAL HOME on Friday, September 15, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and until 9 a.m., on Saturday, September 16, 2006, when a Blessing Service will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, Mill Street, with the Rev. Father Kenneth G. Zaccagnini, V.F., as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
