Stanley Cherry

Stanley Cherry, 53 years of Smock, Pa., passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006. He was born April 6, 1953, in the Brownsville Hospital, Brownsville, Pa., the son of William A. and Dolores Cherry.

Stanley was a 1971 graduate of Uniontown Area Senior High School and a member of the First Baptist Church in Smock.

He was employed at the Gateway Coal Mine, Local 5330, for several years and was a Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Sylvia Hungerford and Yvonne Dolores Cherry.

He is survived by two daughters: Shayna and Ciara; and the following brothers and sisters: William H. Cherry, Los Angeles, California, the Rev. James C. Cherry Sr. and his wife Toni, Jefferson, Pa., Gwendolyn L. Cherry, Grindstone, Pa., Darniece Cherry, Smock, Pa., and Drena J. Cherry, Hampton, Virginia.

Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., on Wednesday, September 20, until 11 a.m. when a Funeral Service will be held with the Rev. Charles E. Morgan and the Rev. James Cherry Sr. officiating.

Interment will be in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to First Baptist Church, Post Office Box 103, Chestnut Ridge, PA 15322.
