Paul Kaufman

Paul Kaufman, 93, of Garards Fort, Pa., died at 5:30 P.M. on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at his home. He was born March 16, 1913, in Braxton County, West Virginia., a son of the late Franklin and Mandona Woods Kaufman.

Mr. Kaufman was a 1932 graduate of Mapletown High School and resided in Monongahela and Greene Townships most of his life. In 1933, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and retired in 1976 from the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine. While living in Mapletown, Mr. Kaufman was a member of the Mapletown United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school and served on several church committees. He was currently a member of the John Corbly Memorial Baptist Church of Garards Fort and a member of the Duquesne Light Local 6310 of the U.M.W.A. Mr. Kaufman was an avid hunter and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

On September 24, 1939, he married Evelyn “Tubby” Paugh, who died December 4, 1974. On May 1, 1976, he married June Barnhart Stevenson, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Lois E. Piper and her husband, Larry of Graysville, Pa.; two step sons, Charles J. Stevenson and his wife, Susie of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Larry Stevenson and his wife, Donna of Garards Fort, Pa.; five grandchildren, Lori Piper, Lee Piper, Bob Hime, Barbara Courtney and Tracy Fies; seven great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren, Kathy Watson, Brian Stevenson, Tricia Crouch, Barry Stevenson, Laura Stevenson, Bruce Stevenson and Robert Lee Stevenson; 11 step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his first wife, are a daughter, Wanda Jean “Jeanne” Hime, four brothers, Boyd, Lester, Ray and Howard Kaufman, two sisters, Goldie Johnson and Aulda Ervin, a stepson, Robert Stevenson and a step granddaughter, Mindy Roth.

Family and friends are welcomed from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2006 with Pastor Kenneth A. Haines officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the John Corbly Memorial Baptist Church, P. O.
